Rajasthan Seeks Central Backing for Agri Supervisors at Village Level; ₹4,384 Cr Sanctioned Under MGNREGA

In a significant move aimed at bolstering grassroots-level agriculture governance, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma met Union Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in New Delhi to propose the deployment of dedicated agriculture supervisors at the gram panchayat level. This strategic initiative, if accepted, could serve as a model for rural agricultural management across India.

The high-level meeting at Krishi Bhawan also witnessed the presence of key officials including Minister of State Bhagirath Chaudhary, Agriculture Secretary Devesh Chaturvedi, Rural Development Secretary Shailesh Singh, and ICAR DG Dr. M.L. Jat. Discussions covered a broad spectrum—from irrigation to inter-state agri trade.

Union Minister Chouhan confirmed that the Centre has already transferred ₹4,384 crore to Rajasthan in the current financial year under MGNREGA. This includes ₹3,286 crore for labour wages, ₹944 crore under material components, and ₹154 crore towards administrative costs.

CM Sharma thanked the minister, stating the funds will provide vital rural employment support, especially during the monsoon season when agri-related work peaks.
